SPOTTED HORSE
Round Lake Roaster's Coffees
We have decided to come out of the woods, to the lake; the origin of many of our stories, and the trade routes to the Mississippi and Red Rivers. We are following our ancestors. Round Lake Coffee Roasters, is a long story, or sets of stories. I’ve loved coffee more than almost anything most of my life. I know that my own community; the White Earth reservation needs to have good coffee too.
So, for fifteen years, we’ve roasted, our Dietrich is a small batch roaster. We’ve specialized in fair trade and organic coffees; sourced from Indigenous communities in Chiapas, Ethiopia, Sumatra and elsewhere; we are interested in the justice of coffee, as it is the second most traded substance in the world after oil. And, we are interested in the flavor of coffee- it has to be perfect.

PRESS RELEASE
ANNOUNCING
THE WINONA LADUKE CHRONICLES
LAUNCHING Jan. 2015
Long awaited, the book is at once, a travel journal, as she moves from one tribal community, village or gathering to another; and also features well-researched, in depth stories, analysis and tributes. Published by her new Spotted Horse Press publishing company, LaDuke shares much of her life, and the stories which compel her.
“I have lived much of my life on the road. Like my mother and father before me, I travel. For me it is from one tribal nation to another, from University to College, regulatory hearing, court room, to the United Nations; and then home. It is by car, airplane, sometimes by horse or canoe. My travels, a privileged life indeed. In this space, people share their stories, or, sometimes, if I am lucky, a story unfolds as I watch; pen in hand.” Winona LaDuke

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH - JOIN HONOR THE EARTH FOR "Pipeline Free Breast," CAMPAIGN.
JOIN HONOR THE EARTH BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
LittleRedfeather Design proudly supports BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH - JOIN HONOR THE EARTH FOR "Pipeline Free Breast," CAMPAIGN. FOSSIL FUELS ARE BAD FOR YOUR BREASTS. AND, A FOSSIL FUEL FREE FUTURE IS HEALTHY FOR ALL WOMEN, CHILDREN, MEN AND MOTHER EARTH.
It turns out that the chemicals produced during the extraction, refining, and use of fossil fuels; high levels of benzene, toluene, and other polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and a few other bad guys are known carcinogens. That’s why Honor the Earth is introducing the pipeline free breast campaign, as a part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Now, just to be clear, we’re not the only ones on this. Last year, Baker Hughes, who makes the enormous drill bits for the fracking industry introduced some pink drill bits for breast cancer awareness month, and donated $l00,000 for the second year in a row to Susan G. Komen, the best-funded breast cancer organization in the U.S. In return, apparently Baker Hughes got to use the specific shade of pink Susan G. Komen has trademarked. (Who knew they could trademark a shade of pink?)
WINONA LADUKE: PIPELINES, FRACKING AND THE TAR SANDS ARE BAD FOR YOUR BOOBS; THEY ARE BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH:
Models for the campaign continue to come forward. Jane Kleeb, Executive Director of Bold Nebraska, a lead organization fighting the Keystone XL Pipeline joined for a picture, noting” I’m standing up against Keystone XL because of the risks to our water and our health. The oil and gas industry denies the link of their risky product and cancer, just like the tobacco companies did years ago. Today, we stand up for women’s health."
Kandi Mossett, of the Indigenous Environmental Network posed with two logos; Mossett is from the Ft. Berthold reservation, where radioactive and salt spills, as well as radioactive fracking socks litter sections of the reservation. Supporting groups include VDay, Indigenous Women’s Network, and Babes Against Biotech. Other women are encouraged to join, and the materials can be downloaded off the Honor the Earth web site.
